An Open Letter to Diamondbacks Nation
Howdy.
Diamondbacks Nation has been in the works for more than two years now. We are conceived not only as a news and commentary website, but also as the broader community of Arizona baseball fans. Diamondbacks Nation is us ... and you. After some halting, early steps, we (like the team we support) are ready to move boldly forward in 2009.
Some final modifications to the site are being made in anticipation of the 2009 season relaunch. In the coming days, we will unveil an updated homepage layout. We're also working in some new graphics to give the site a unified look and feel. The finishing touches will be in place by Opening Day.
With April 6 fast approaching, we are charged up for the start of the season. The month of April will be huge for the Snakes and for Diamondbacks Nation. The revamped site will feature a mix of regular installments (i.e., series previews, minor league updates), short-form daily notes and longer feature articles.
Our primary focus is on the local team and we wear our colors with pride. We intend to organize Diamondbacks supporters to make our presence known, home and away. But we know loyalty to our club requires us to speak truth to management, players and even fans. We will call the game as we see it, from an Arizona perspective.
Ultimately, we envision DiamondbacksNation.com as a destination for anyone who appreciates a smart, funny, occasionally irreverent take on baseball. While our point of reference is the home team, we love the game in full. We hope to build a community centered in Phoenix, Arizona, but which extends well beyond our borders.
Your support in this effort is hugely appreciated. There are a few things you can do to help:
1. SIGN-UP - Now that you've found Diamondbacks Nation, please register and comment. You are also invited to follow us on Twitter.
2. SPREAD THE WORD - Tell your friends. Name-check us on your site. Expand the ranks of Diamondbacks Nation.
3. MAKE CONNECTIONS - If you have contacts with the Diamondbacks or elsewhere in baseball who would be friendly to our project and helpful to know, we would be grateful for an introduction. Potential advertisers are also warmly welcomed.
4. CONTRIBUTE CONTENT - To realize our vision, we'll need others to share in the creation of content, including articles, photos and graphics. We would love to speak with any talented journalists, writers, photographers, designers, etc., who wish to join our team.
If you'd like to advance the cause of Diamondbacks Nation, please email us at: contact@diamondbacksnation.com. We look forward to hearing from you.
Many thanks.
